Privacy Policy
Short version: your data stays on your device. The tools on UsefulTools run as JavaScript inside your browser. Files, text, passwords and anything else you enter are processed locally and are never transmitted to us — the site has no upload backend, no database, and no user accounts.
What the site stores
Preferences such as your dark-mode choice are stored in your browser's local storage and never leave your device. Clearing your browser data removes them completely.
Third-party services a few tools use
A handful of tools need live data from the internet to work, and they request it directly from your browser:
- The currency converter fetches public exchange rates from the European Central Bank (frankfurter.app).
- The IP lookup and "what is my IP" tools query a public geolocation API.
- The internet speed test measures throughput against Cloudflare's public speed-test endpoints.
- The password breach checker sends only the first 5 characters of a SHA-1 hash (k-anonymity).
If a tool needs the network, the tool page says so. Everything else — converters, generators, calculators, PDF and image tools — works fully offline once the page is loaded.
Advertising
If ads are ever enabled, they will be served by a third-party network (such as Google AdSense) which may use cookies subject to its own privacy policy. Until then, the site makes zero third-party advertising requests.
Analytics
UsefulTools currently runs no analytics. If privacy-friendly analytics are added later, this policy will be updated first.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will always be available on this page. Last updated: 2026.
